He sealed it I believe which was stated in the manga, I don't personally instate that as "beating".

Anyways I believe he is overrated, but not as much as you think, he was by far the most powerful "Monk" in NU.

He beat the juubi and created the moon so No he is not overrated, actually he is underrated by some madara fanboys. I have seen some of them saying that madara is equal to him or that madara can beat him when madara is not even close to his level.

well if anything people are underrating him.
I mean he defeated the juubi, it doesn't say he fought and SEALED the juubi,
it says he fought DEFEATED and THEN sealed the juubi.
