He does have his moments, but usually after them he'll do something to destroy his image again.

Not a bad-ass.

If Kishimoto makes him smart in one chapter, the next he'll be dumb.
If he makes Naruto a boss in one chapter, he'll be an idiot in the other.
He'll also never wear something decent.

That's just how it is. He's too damn important to the comedy part of the manga to ever be considered a bad-ass.

Naruto is nice but not bad ass. He's lacking in brainz and $wag, nobody who wears orange could be considered bad-ass.

Tobirama, Sasuke, Itachi, Kakashi, Madara and Orochimaru are bad-ass characters.
