i think she is a offshoot of the senju clan. I think when the senju clan became part of the village they split into many different clans or families.

This is the only thing i can think of that would make her greater than a average shinobi her age(besides medical ninjutsu)

I think the marks she has on her face is something many of the senju did at some point(as you can see with tobirama)
