It's not the new senju DNA It is what Madara was trying to OBTAIN by adding senju DNA to his own.

Its not the NEW senju dna, it IS the senju dna. Before we found out that you achieve the Rinnegan by combining Ashura and Indra's chakra, everyone assumed that it was due to senju dna. Senju dna solved everything... now we know senju dna had nothing to do with it. It was all Ashura's chakra.

Senju DNA is really just Ashura chakra, which in turn is just watered down Rikudou Chakra.

that's not necessarily true. Every Senju didn't have Ashura's chakra in them, otherwise they'd all be considered transmigrates.
