You do know that line wasn't added to the pledge until like the 1950s right? And on top of that, the nation was founded with the concept of Separation of church and state. Not only that, the founding fathers were deists.

"The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."
--John Adams

None the less the United States is founded in the belief of an All-Powerful Being called God irrespective of religion or theology, The belief in The Creator is the foundation and the soul of the United States, without God there is no United States, A godless person cannot and should not be elected to the highest position in the land.

I hope you're joking with me or I've become poor at spotting troll bait.

It doesn't matter in general, so why would it matter to pick a president. It could be a Muslim for all I care, as long as they will be a promising candidate.

I am not from USA, but i know religion clouds people's judgement when it comes to electing. It does not matter to me as long as they keep it away from state but it matters to millions of individuals.

I have seen numerous anti-semitic things about Bernie Sanders for example.

Yes, it's an important tool to prevent the masses from evolving, intellectually/mentally.

Religion is somewhat important to me.

I believe that there is a god. I don't believe in any of his names on this earth though, I doubt anybody knows his real name or what he looks like. That being said I also don't believe any religions on this earth in this time either. Too much corruption and bad history with a good half of them, and the other half is just full of contradictions that don't make sense.

But such is life, and so are lies. I pray every now and then to a nameless God and hope that suffices, and try to live my life the best I can.

The Citizens United Act allows for private campaign donations and lobbying, aka bribes, to be legal. Be it Democrat or Republican, whomever donated to them expects a return investment on their contributions, so they'll ask to vote Yes or No on a bill. Who has the most punch in the legalized bribes? Big corporations and resource tycoons whose continuous track record has been slowly increasing the gap between the 1% and the rest of society. It is the one bill in Congress which those who voted for it truly, truly ****ed up.

True. I don't really want a president whos like "This is a Christian country and we'll make, ass backwards laws and decisions." but if they have good policies and a good track record, why shouldn't I vote for them?

Well it is a Christian country and they should act that way.
Who cares if people want for example mosques? They can go back where they come from.

Not to me, but a lot of Conservatives, unfortunately.

They all say they believe in God, but they're all really Godless in actions so what's your point?

You're sorely wrong if you believe that. Here's the first Amendment

This my friend is what the country was founded and based on.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances..

Because its not a Christian country (See:The First Amendment) and is infact a melting pot of different backgrounds and cultures and therefore would have things from peoples home countries. Its like you don't even know American history or you're just really ignorant.

No.
I truly think religion should be completly separate from the state and political concepts.
The states for me has to be secular.

Politics aside, don't appreciate religions. I have a very vivid spiritual life, to be true. But I think religion is to set dogmas and limitations.
Religion is just an interpretation of ancient concepts, however, over the years, eventually becomed doctrinal institutions and bureaucratized that distorted the initial concepts.

After reading some of the posts here, I think the answer is pretty clear.
