Now that naruto is pretty much over ive been looking for a new manga to read, in the past many of my friends/family have raved about one piece, pretty much what i'm wondering is if one piece is as good as people say and also is it ending any time soon?

Oh, yes OP is definitely worth getting into especially with how the manga has been going in the current arc. It isn't ending anytime soon. The series starts off slow though, but after a while it picks up. imo it is probably best to start with the anime most of it is canon.

OP isn't for everyone. If you're a fan of a lot of action & "fast pacing" then OP isn't for you. Keep in mind the series has a good 10 years left. Don't just start watching/reading OP just because other people are doing it.

Not really a fan of over the top fast paced action but i do enjoy it on occasion, ive been interested in one piece for awhile now but the 700+ chapters kept me from reading it, but now that naruto is over i'm gonna give it a go.

I'd say read the manga, you'll be able to catch up faster depending on how fast you read and when you can read it.

The length shouldn't be a problem, that's assuming you enjoy the material. Read/Watch the first 50/40 chapters/episodes and see how it goes.

I honestly don't understand this sentiment. Why would a work having a great body to it dissuade you from reading? Do you not read the Harry Potter series because it has thousands of pages? Do you never read a Batman comic because it has almost 100 years worth of material? If anything the volume of work is the best thing about OP and any big work.

i didn't mean having a large amount of material is bad or something, i just meant that i wanted to finish the 700 chapter manga i was currently reading before possibly getting into a new one.

Yes, absolutely. I kinda wish I could go back to when I never saw it and watch it and read it all over again as if it were my first time.

Personally, I think OP is vastly superior to Naruto. The only area which I think is questionable is the art style, but that's purely subjective. It's so well written and so fascinating and so enjoyable to read.

I think the anime is a really good place to start, but you're going to want to go about 40-50 chapters before you can make a statement. Unfortunately, the second arc is probably the worst arc of hte series imo, though thankfully it's pretty short, only like 8 episodes or so. Some of the later arcs are 40-50 episodes. But yeah, I'd definitely try it. And if you don't want to get into all that, then I'd suggest you read it. It's much quicker and easier than a 20 minute episode, and there isn't any filler so that's always a plus, however OP anime filler isn't horrendous like with some series.

I wouldn't let the 700+ chapters disuade you. It's so good, that you'll be glad you can marathon the shit out of its awesomeness lol
