Couldn't Kishi have made Rin age aswell in the afterlife? I assume you can do that shit/Appear in anyway you want in Heaven or whatev. Which would also explain why Obito appeared as his kid self if he regretted everything that happened past that point. Obito didn't have to appear in his dying form so why did Rin? Surely he would've recognised an older Rin. Maybe they wanted to just grow up in the way they never got the chance to.
