he only had the tailed beast for the first part of the fight hes been fighting alone for a few chapters now

Plus kakashi has always been a step ahead of gai and guess what... with his improved kamui he still is. Lastly, kakashi is the second worst there; so even if gai were better than him he would still be worse than obito

Also to any1 saying 8 gates guy is better; the 8 gates will kill him so it would only be a draw at best
