It was not from plot hole no justu
Nagato was nowhere near naruto it was the paths fighting him.
If the real nagato tried pulling that he would of broke his hip just walking up to him lol
Remember he was emaciated and bound to that chair

I ment before the fight. The Akatsuki had so many Jinchuuriki.. Nagato couldve just walked to one he captured and take some chakra.
