So I have an old lenovo system hanging around, And I inserted a GDDR5 factory OC'd R7 250 MSI into the system, the problem is, i'm getting a lot of frame rate drops even at modest 720p settings, I'm well aware the R7 250 is not that powerful, but it's well enough to handle games from 2011 and 2010. Which was a core 2 duo e8400 3.00 ghz, 6gb ram, I tested AC brotherhood on it, the frames drop down to 24-21 at 720p. So I later connected the same card in my freinds core 2 quad. It was working fine, I don't seem to get this? Is it the C2D which is causing problems in performence.

It's an old system yes, the LGA775 sockets are dead I know.

I'm not sure. I have a R9 280 and a FX 8320 and it bottlenecks in some maps (not all of them) from battlefield 3 on ultra settings.
You should install MSI Afterburner and check your gpu usage and cpu usage... If the gpu usage is at 90+% , then you should be fine.

Like Blackberry said, what's your CPU usage when you are running the game?
Do you mean GPU usage? If yes, the it stays over 90 when on games.

Core 2 duo E8400 @stock clock 3.00 ghz
RAM: 6GB ddr2 kingston
PSU: liteon 350 watt psu
Hard disk: 500gb
GPU: well obviously the 1gb GDDR5 r7 250 MSI (overclocked edition)
AC games as well as other ubisoft games are not well optimized in PC. Try running other games, if it still doesn't work properly like it should be, then get a new CPU or just build a new pc. Honestly, I think it is time to upgrade if you want to play current or past 2-3 years games.

Question:
If you were to built a pc right now, what is your current budget?

I know AC games aren't well optimised, Since most of them are shitty ports, other games like cod for instance, black ops and black ops 2 are not that demanding. They are giving me trouble, even AC1, which is hella old, drops frames at times. ancient games work fine ofc.

I already have a well built gaming PC now, I just like messing around with old hardware and i'm really curious why this problem is happening, Hence I said I picked up an old lenovo. Since the same GPU works quite fine on my friends PC.

It has something to do with optimization more likely than not as Genjin said, as other games you can play them well.

I'm lucky though not to be wary about proper optimizations because my specs are good enough already. :win:
