Hi guys, i think i'm going to buy microsoft office 2011, but i've read things about the purchase of the product being a temporary subscription, meaning i'd have to pay X dollars every Y months in order to permanently keep MS on my desktop. can anyone confirm that? i really want to purchase it, like, forever, not for some 12 months, you know? thanks

i can't afford to get such software which you call open office because the purpose for my purchase would be solely to be able to make school essays at home. since most of these essays i'd have to present in my normal class time, i'd use my teacher's notebook like anyone else and in doing so i'd have to install this open office thing on the PC which would waste so much time i'd get a F, so it's all about fitting everyone's pc with MSOffice, something that this free software wouldnt do.

For those of you suggesting torrents, I'd recommend checking out this thread.

Regarding the question, Microsoft office 2010, 2011, and 2013 are all permanent licenses. Office 365 is subscription based. If you wanna save money, use open office or libre office. Personally, I'd recommend using google drive, unless your teacher's computer can't access the internet.

Pretty sure that if you buy MS Office you'll get an unlimited license.

And about OpenOffice, it's designed to be a complete replacement to MS Office. It's completely compatible with it, and files can be saved in the docx and pptx formats, for example. Anything you make with OpenOffice can be used by someone with MS Office and vice versa.

However, if you still want to buy MS Office, make sure to look into student discounts, it's possible you can get one.

For windows: .

Only office 365 is a subscription. Every other M$ Office that you can buy a boxed edition for is permanent. Students can generally get a 10% discount. Hope this helps.

Not true.

MS Office has a lot more functionality; OpenOffice only provides the basics.
