So maybe it was an anime-only claim.

I would think the only way what Sasuke says fits in with the plot is if what he said was a "lie" or a taunt towards Naruto.

Madara is the only confirmed one to detect narutos shadow clones in the manga. However madara said that sasuke has the same eyes as him, the straight tomoe i think it was? So its possible he will be able to tell the difference aswell.

I think that the only way they (if sasuke is able to) can do that is if Indra's chakra enables them, this is a more valid point.

As far as the Manga only Madara can distinguish them..... Sasuke has not shown to be able to so he cannot. Just saying.... I feel that Kishi should just say that sharingan users can see the difference...but until Kishi says it, Sasuke cannot.... only Madara can.

Fully agree with what u said, but isnt it his job to write/draw the manga, i mean if u r doing a job u have to do it right or even better.

Nope, Sasuke could distinguish Kabuto from his clones as well. The reason Madara can is because he possess a choku tomoe that gives a greater reading capability than any other mangekyou, something Sasuke possess as well
