I guess kishimoto tried to cover the plothole by making Madara not have his Rinnegan but It's still obvious.

He was swelling then he burst, The Kaguya fight is full with plotholes.

That was just an artists error on Kishi's part, it was fixed in later versions.

His rinnegan was torn to shreds if you look closely in the first scan, the OP posted.

OT. Madara never burst, sasuke did say that would've happened though.

To me it seemed like Madara and Kaguya simply switched places. Kaguya is the Juubi so she was already wuthin him. Madara started to bloat up when too much chakra began to enter his body so it makes sense to me if BZ made them switch places in which Kaguya was able to stabilize that chakra and shrink back to size.

Since now Madara was the one within her, he was spat back out after she was sealed.
