Yes as with many ninja of that time you had to be a sensor specialist as well as an offensive ninjutsu based ninja. I wouldnt be surprised to find out that Madara knew medical ninjutsu as well. Based on the fact that he saved Obito although half his body was destroyed and managed to keep himself alive and implant Hashirama's DNA into his own body, I would think he was especially skilled in medical ninjutsu.

Thats how Madara and Naruto were long range
The Hokage all are long range sensor. Minato sense Kurama inside Naruto.
Naruto did sense both Minato & Sasuke, is also long range due to his chakra and he is Senjutsu.

Each individual had his/her own chakra signature.
Madara knew Naruto was the clone, because of the Kurama&Naruto chakra signature was not.
