I thought Lee gone much slower after the Gaara fight back in part 1. That after that he no longer wear weights.

There's no reason for him to use them now.
That amazing speed he showed during the CE was only off the charts by genin standards. He can get faster than that with the gates and now he can sustain them for longer periods so there's no need to hold back.
