Knowledge alone is not power. Applied knowledge is power. If you can't apply the knowledge you have, it doesn't help you. Power is work divided by time. It is how much work you can do in a certain amount of time. And if you're not doing any work, the knowledge can't be power. Just clearing a common misconception, fam.

Edit: What's you guys opinion? If you disagree, explain why knowledge alone is power

Yes and you have to act on what you know. Otherwise you can know everything in the universe but if you just sit there nothing will happen. An object at rest remains at rest unless acted upon by an outside force

Applied knowledge is power yes... But I would believe the statement generally applies to this even if it's not really stated.

If I touch a hot oven, knowing that it's hot is not going to save me from getting burned.

If I look at a hot oven, knowing that it's hot might make me put on an oven mitt.

Applied knowledge comes from research, learning and experience. I feel that you learn from your mistakes and consciously move forward.

Well there's knowledge applied consciously, and then there's knowledge applied subconsciously. Pretty much what kyuubi44 was hinting at.

I don't think there's ever a case where we're not applying knowledge.

Yes. I agree 100% Research, learning, and experience widen your knowledge. And I know but the statement isn't clear and I've heard many people ramble about knowledge being power and not understanding the phrase fully. Knowledge is only power when you apply it.

Knowledge + Action = Power
Yes! Yes! Yes!

Well there's people that know but don't act on what they know. Catch this analogy, If you know, and don't act on what you know soon, it can become like non burned fat. Knowledge is like calories. If you don't apply it, it becomes mental weight gain. And can lead to mental obesity. If you get what I'm saying. Obesity can also make it easy for disease to come in. If you know too much and don't apply it, you can go crazy.

Edit: there's always cases where people don't apply knowledge. Because there's always a different way to apply knowledge. It's so many in fact, no one is completely applying knowledge. For instance, yes you study math, but do you apply that math to rea life and not just work? Because it surely can be used. This situation plus this situation creates this situation. Planning ahead is a form of math. Math so logic so anything bison logic is math, you can even change the scenarios with numbers and get a math problem. There's always something people don't apply even though they have knowledge

The person with better knowledge should have an edge over an ignorant foe. I guess it all depends on different instances also.

But using this line of thinking, you would agree that one would go crazy from even trying to conjure up situations to apply all that knowledge, given how much information we're able to obtain.

There are some forms of knowledge that can't really be applied to anything as well. In this section, I learned of a horse that bit some boy's happy parts off.

As for your edit, you're giving an example of someone not applying a specific knowledge, while I was speaking about knowledge in general. Like not touching the oven, avoiding dangerous areas or certain neighborhoods because of your awareness of them, not cussing in church because you know it's offensive, etc.

Well that's soenthing I don't know. I didn't think about that. I don't have an answer for that type of thing. But I'm sure it serves some purpose. Maybe it just goes in your memory bank. Idk. But people have gon crazy from knowing too much and not applying it

Yes but having the answers & an understanding of any specific truth is frustrating when you feel like your the only who has it.

Excuse my answer, you hit a nerve.

Knowledge is useless if it's not applied.

More knowledge means superior understanding that can help you understand things and surrounding better more you understand them more power you can gain from it but just having knowledge won't mean you have more power it must be applied constantly to what you think and what you do .

Suppose u witness the president having an affair. He doesn't want that becoming public so he'll grant you any request to keep you quit. In that sense you have knowledge and power. No action necessary.

Suppose you're in the military and know the launch codes for nukes. The enemy discovers you know this information... you now have "power." Though they most likely won't treat you kindly, they certainly won't outright kill you either.

Getting any degree makes you more valuable in the working world. Regardless of weather or not you will apply evrything you learned in college (and in most cases you wont), just simply having the knowledge grants you power that the next candidate doesn't
have.

I can dream up numerous scenarios but the point is, knowledge itself can be powerful. You don't necessarily need action to have "power."
