Is Kishimoto aware of Naruto's popularity in the black community?

it's hard to not notice but Naruto and anime in general has sort of become popular among african americans. Naruto seems like one of the only long running animes that took note of this, giving the cloud village a black hokage and mostly dark skinned ninja, including the rapping killer bee, so I think Kishimoto must have met a lot of african american fans at jump expos for him to make a village for them.

Naruto doesn't even look Japanese. Kishi like a lot of Mangakas uses stereotypes to design their characters.

He wasn't even aware of its popularity in America in general for awhile

But even though he designed off stereotypes he still gave em respectable stature and killer bee soloing sasuke was gold. 8 gates turning the user black, etc.

I do not think 8 gates turned the user black, more like red, as to represent boiling blood. Though Killer b was the only stereotypical character, the skinny ones weren't exaggerated like that.

This always surprised me also, couldn't think of 2 more different cultures and yet anime has started embracing the odd bit of hip/hop or representation. It's sweet.

I hope Kishi does, because apart from Blackploitation anime like Afro Samurai and Boondocks, I don't actually see the link at all. Sh*ts good. Anime characters are raceless and can be enjoyed by all.

Kishi mentions in an old interview that he watched an episode of everybody hates chris once and he instantly felt connected to teh black community.
