Is kirin better than amaterasu?

To kishi, Kirin is just a plot device for itachi to pull out the susanoo.

Exactly, amaterasu can be evaded but kirin cant

Kirin can be evaded if you teleport or body flicker.. Itachi was weaker and slower at that time so he couldn't evade it.
he had to block it cuz his body wasn't fit.. Kirin is extremely fast though.
Obito disposed of Amateratsu because it was Sasuke accidentally and unaware using on Tobi..
had Itachi been there he could have done more with it. Tobi agrees somewhat.

it could still be used since Sasuke already used Amateratsu with Naruto's rasengan in the air..
Sasuke could build up enough for Kirin again... doesn't mean he would but he still could and he might. :O

Kirin is probably stronger, assuming it hit the target since if you miss, all the effort is for nothing.
However Amaterasu is definitely more flexible and efficient to use since you can use it anytime you still have chakra.

I think Kirin is more efficient if prep time is completed.

Amaterasu has yet to kill anybody, despite how many times it's been used by now. It burns too slowly, giving time to sever body parts or take off burned articles of clothing.

Or use Orochimaru's shedding technique like Sasuke did.

It's never successfully killed anyone other than White Zetsu, who isn't even a fighter type.

The threat of Amaterasu really comes from the fact that it's a fast attack that cannot be put out (unless you're Obito, hence why the Transcription Seal Itachi put on Sasuke didn't work).

If Kirin hits, you're basically obliterated.

I figured as much that minato and obito would be able to evade it.. I think someone like shisui combining his sharingan and body flicker could evade it as well. though we haven't seen him in action, we could assume reasonably based off of his own jutsu being used by others . Lightning Kirin is very fast, but SHaringan reads jutsu / movements very well and body flicker is very swift..

this is the biggest plus for this debate.. Amateratsu doesn't take chakra as long as you have EMS..
Kirin does take a lot of chakra away from you and that is noticed as Sasuke only used it once. (while he was worn out)

maybe kirin took all the current from the air while it was used once.. and u have to rebuild up the static in the air to use it again... but ou can use Amateratsu all you want and rapidly like itachi did .. and Sasuke can do more than itachi could with amateratsu..

the situation with the juubi was another thing.. it was pretty weird actually.. Itachi used Amateratsu and it worked almost like a bomb when It collided with Jiraiya's toad stomach ... it exploded on impact.. Kirin is a single yet very powerful and quick strike... but amateratsu lasts as long as u want seemingly.
PS: a lot of people don't know the amateratsu Itachi used in his fight with Sasuke , was still burning the forest down when kakashi and yamato got there looking for sasuke.. yamato then used his mokuton to grow more trees and lift amateratsu into the air .. err..

Yes but body flicker cant move you to a far distance from where you are,it just help you dogde an attack or attack at killer speed but even if you perform body flicker kirin will most likely hit you since its a wide range attack

For convenience i'd take amaterasu. and considering in a battle you'd wanna be as convenient as you can, amaterasu wins. Kirin, though powerful, takes too much prep time. use amaterasu, aim for the head.

When you need an asspull, Amaterasu is better, you just cast it from the eye.
But when you have an aranged or slow battle, I would say Kirin.

this kinda makes sense I suppose, but it probably wasn't a FULL Susano'o.. prob just enough to cover Itachi's body.

Kirin would probably be stronger after using Amateratsu flames to fill the air and disturb its circulation.
giving it that static charge.. So Itachi's Amateratsu added a stronger charge than Fireballs by both Itachi & Sasuke.

Sasuke can use Amateratsu anytime now and do whatever he wants with it.. he wont lose his EMS sight..
but he can run outta alotta chakra with using Kirin and performing jutsu just for Kirin.. Kirin's impact is stronger.

but in the long run, Amateratsu is more helpful I suppose. :bouncy:

no apparently it doesn't take much chakra because its really just controlling the lightning in the cloud, but you do need to use a big firestyle jutsu to make the clouds come.
