Is Kiba Really Fast ??

So I just happened to be looking at the naruto wiki and realised something. Kiba was the first one to find and attack Tobi after he teleported in the 'hunt for itachi arc', even to the point it suprised Tobi (although he still dodged in time).

Does that mean Kiba is really really fast? And if so why do people underrate his battle potential so much? I had a look at the databook and kiba's score for speed is 4.5. For comparison here are some other ninja's that commonly get hyped because of they have considerable speed (i left the elites out because they should be obviously way higher than 5).

Sasuke - 4.5
Kakashi - 4.5
Rock Lee - 4.5
Might Guy - 5
Itachi Uchiha - 5

That databook cover up to at least the hunt for Itachi arc so it is at least valid till than.

+ rep just because you dont usually here of kiba fans . Dont let the databook fool you though. Just because kiba has a 4.5 in speed doesnt mean he is close to itachi or gai or even sasuke's speed who also has a 4.5.

uh, off the top of my head he seems more like a slower power attacker. with his spinning attack. powerful but slow compared to elites like you said. nevermind his speed though he always seemed like a better looking guy with his hood off and the whisker things. like he'd be popular with the girls. i guess they all think he smells like dog though

Haha thanks xd. I can understand the ratings of 5 not being correct since that is the highest you can get. But anyway I alway thought that Lee was incredibly fast, faster than sasuke. These are the scores from the end of part 1 (second databook)
Kiba - 4
Rock Lee - 4
Sasuke -3.5

So Kiba has been as fast or faster than sasuke for a while, and on par with Lee even before the time skip. So I am inclined to think he is either on par with or reasonably close to sasuke's speed (at least up to and including the hunt for Itachi arc during which he was fast enough to surprise tobi).

He is definitely not an elite, but than again Lee is still fast to the point he can easily overwhelm people with his speed. So for Kiba to have the same speed is pretty surprising. But than again his fang over fang jutsu is just him spinnign really fast, and therefore he delivers a lot of hits really fast. Also at the bolded bit hahaxd

i said it was his type. i didn't say he was an elite. if he is in a fight he's gonna rely on gatsuuga being his powerful attack. maybe he's only equipped for fighting zetsus and other lower level shinobi. doesn't mean its not his "powerful" attack.

I know I was agreeing . Yer he would definitely rely on fang-over-fang since Kishi doesn't seem to like giving him new jutsu U_U. O' well we will have to wait and see what happens when they all meet up with Naruto. According to the databook Kiba apparently learned a new jutsu over the time skip called 'whirlwind wolf fang'. I can't think of a better time to show it off, than against Tobi (although I am slightly worried it will result in his death haha)

Maybe fast but his attacks are not accurate which is what pulls it down. I can't count how many times his fang over fang has failed.

I've never heard of anybody underrating his potential, he's litereally Naruto without any extra modes or Tailed beast. His potential is bottomless.
But as far as speed, I doubt he started moving towards him when he just said 'hey guys'. He must have been moving towards him even before that, because he could tell by his scent where he was.

But there's no denying that he's fast, he just needs more screentime to prove it, or more training to catch up with Naruto/Sasuke/Main chararcters.
