itama isn't zetsu. i think is just a lack of inspiration. kishi was too lazy to think of another hairstyle and he mixed hashi's hair with tobirama's hair, maybe he wanted to say that itama is the middle brother, something transitive betwen tobirama and hashirama.

You are forgetting that when Obito woke up after having half his body crushed Madara put his WILL into half of one Zetsu and explained Zetsu was made up of Hashirama DNA
