who you think was giving him info on the akatsuki?

even though itachi became a criminal he was still loyal to the leaf.
if he wasn't then why would itachi tell sasuke about madara if he didn't want those two to meet?

answer: he wanted sasuke to be the hero of the leaf village that killed the demolisher of the uchiha clan and return to the leaf with info on madara being part of the akatsuki. itachi even place amaterasu in sasuke.

Now if you say that itachi was his informant then you are also assuming jiraiya knew his secret that he was actually a good guy which jiraiya didnt know aswell in fact no one knew except the elders. My guess is he had his own way of collecting info on akatsuki

i thought the same thing but that would have messed itachi's plan of death. he would be a criminal and when sasuke defeated him it would make sasuke look like a revenge crazed rogue instead of a hero that took down an akatsuki member and uchiha killer.

perhaps but i wouldn't bet on it, if he did it was indirectly. Itachi only joined akatsuki because he wanted to make sure that they didnt lay a finger on the leaf, also which is why he went to capture the ninetails with kisame he did not want the other members to go because they might cause a rawkus.

itachi true intentions were so that sasuke can look like a hero when he kills itachi. so yeah i really dont see how that is possible and by the way..jiraya sealed amaterasu in a scroll neva know if kishi would pull that out and be like this is how i learned how to counter amaterasu

About Jiraiya and Amaterasu... Wasn't he thinking about sealing it and speculating on it... As in he wasn't trying to put on a show to Naruto/ Sasuke that he needed to do this and that. So he was genuinely surprised / curious / worried. Get me?

He does need to know the secret. Itachi didnt want anyone to know that he was actually on konohas side so if he did give jiraiya info then hes basicly saying im a good guy on konohas side and thats his secret out and his plan will not work before he can execute his plan on sasuke.

if jiraiya new that he didn't want anyone to know then he most likely wouldn't tell. jiraiya never stated that he didnt know of the uchiha massacre. in fact he never talked about it. so for all we know he could've know an never said anything about it.
