No one can stop you on what you like, whether it be picking your nose, or shoving a brush up your bunghole. Some people just like to demean others in hopes to make themselves feel better, or that they're just judgmental like that. I personally don't mind a furry since I have one and she's extremely adorable haha, same thing with brony BUT Bronies are known to shove it in people's faces that they are. Bronies are known to be a cancerous lot in forums and often assimilate certain trends into " bronyfied " things, it is quite annoying but to the extent of calling someone gay because of it? I think that's going too far, and that demeaning.
However, I do hope you don't lose your manhood because of these interests.

Bottom line, you like what you like and you find those that have the same interests as yourself to make yourself feel at home if you wish. If your friends leave you because of it, then who cares? haha there are other people across the world that would love to share with your interests. If you always talk about it when you have no idea people's opinions about them, then I suggest you keep it private to yourself

Like Jessica Nigri ( a well known cosplayer and MLP:FIM cosplayer at times ), she refers to her fans are bronies too since she has fans (males/females) that loves the show
