Is it possible that Naruto is under Tsukuyomi cast by Itachi when they fought earlier in the series, and that none of what's occurring is real? Ancient goddesses, giant ten tailed monsters, Sasuke marrying Sakura. It's all too far'fetched. I call Genjutsu via Itachi. Besides, can't you live out an entire life in Tsukuyomi for only like a minute in real life? Itachi could have had Naruto experienced all of what happened after their engagement inside Tsukuyomi , all the years he lived out, the children he had. All mere illusions. Seconds, in reality. IMAGINE How heart broke Naruto would be if he woke up from the Genjutsu to find that everything he accomplished after his fight with Itachi wasn't even real. That his children, his wife, his experiences and memories with his friends, were all an illusion. And for the sake of the discussion, don't make any arguments about Kurama breaking Naruto out of the Genjutsu.

Itachi is not that cruel. He would let Naruto die knowing that all his accomplishments and experiences in life was real. On the offset Naruto breaks out of the genjutsu after all that time he would probably just commit suicide due to shock.
