My friend and I were walking down the street and a shirtless black guy was walking behind us. He had his hands in his pockets and was looking shady.

So we did the right thing and..

Okay well in answer to the title no it isn't okay to be racist and to the story just lol

That's not racism, its basic instincts.

Whether the guy was colored or not, you saw something about this person that looked "shady" and took a preservationist stand and ran in case this person meant you harm.

Not really racist, maybe rude, but not racist.

While it's okay to have these thoughts and feelings about it inside you or perhaps even amongst your friends and relatives, you shouldn't project them towards other people who may take offense to it. While we have freedom to think and believe, projecting them, specifically the prejudice/racism, towards others would violate their freedom/civil rights, which isn't good at all.
