Yeah it's ok to be afraid. I can't really give you advice on a problem that I know nothing about, so I'll leave it at that.

Feel the fear and do it anyways. That's how you make life worth living. The reward will feel great

technically an irrational fear is a psychological issue.

But, everyone has irrational fears so I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, many people don't like confrontations because they don't know how to deal with them. I don't like confrontations either, but sometimes you just have to face your fears and move past them.

I know this sounds stupid but is it natural to be afraid of something or an issue that can't do any harm? I'm having a dilemma (long story) and I'm afraid to confront it. When I think about it there's nothing to be scared of but when I think about DOING it I just can't, it's hard to explain.

I think it's kind of my brother and dads fault because during my childhood they would make fun of me for being scared (playfully obviously) and I always tried to hide my fear.

How can I build up the nerve to confront the problem?

Fear is not real. It is a product of thoughts you create. Now do not misunderstand me, danger is very real.
