I think the fact he encounter it and knows about it, he can come up with a strategy to overcome it. pain mention that he is a dangerous man to keep alive because he always comes up with a way to stop a jutsu.

No particular reason. I just believe that Deva Pain and Kakashi are two of my favorite characters, and they have amazing fighting abilities.

That and Deva Pain went up against Sage Mode Naruto and technically won.

While Kakashi just recently beat Obito!

Since Deva path called his 2nd strongest path, he knew that he'll need help to defeat Kakashi.

Also there was a big plot no jutsu here because Kakashi can simply kamui him but since it was a new enemy and one of the akatsuki leader, Kishi had no choice to make Kakashi loose (even Gai was not here) .

Also Kakashi had to babysitting the Akimichi clan when he was going to take down Deva path with a raikiri.
When he used Bansho tenin, the other path was paralysed by raiton kage bunshin and Deva coulnd't use shinrei tensei because of the 5 seconds.They didn't know of Kakashi's position, so a sneaky attack from Kakashi was greatly possible.

Deva still has gravitational pull, always will come in handy to screw up his focus. He can also pull/push/throw objects at Kakashi.

Kakashi has very limited chakra to use for Kamui, he could escape once away from a shinra tensei, that's his limit.

A wide-scale shinra tensei or chibaku tensei will wipe the floor and or make him retreat.
