Is it just me or does naruto no longer need a shadow clone?

With the most recent power up, is he able to do the rassengan without a clone or help? Or is Kishi just not showing it to us anymore and he still need it?

Actually his first non clone rasengan was back in part 1 against sasuke... although he still needed clones afterward =|
