Is it bad that Shikadai is a lot like Shikamaru?

I recall seeing people spit "carbon-copy" like an insult. I don't think that there is anything wrong with being a 'chip off the ol' block'. Some kids want to be unique and different, and some kids are just like their parents. La pomme ne tombe pas trop loin de l'arbre, oui?​

the only one original is mituski imo.. sarada is actually both of sasuke and sakura which I like

What about himawari, i don't think she looks too much like her parents, at least no compared to the others.

But yeah, alot of the New gens designs are pretty lazy.

In my opinion, not everyone is born original, and I honestly think that being a chip off of the old block is a lot more realistic than completely diverging from your parents. I guess some kids are different, as some like to rebel or be unique, and some are comfortable with being like their parents. It just depends on the character. They are only human after all. But I understand what you're saying. One might say that even despite of his rebellious attitude, Boruto still adheres to some of the stereotypes as his father and most main characters in anime. I guess people can try to be different, but nothing is original anymore.​

Yes. Almost all the new gen are replicas of their parent(s) it's unoriginal.

Give him Shikamaru's shadow possession for close to mid range attacks and Temari's wind style for ranged attacks combined with Shikamaru's intelligence and we might get to see some great tactical battles.
I just don't want to see him being an exact Shikamaru clone though.

Not sure what the pompousy french part was about,

but anywho,...shikamaru looked like HIS father. And as far as carbon copy, not sure about that...he has eyes like his mom, at least. And probably advanced shadow techniques.

Well, for example, my brother and I both have traits from both of our parents, but we're very different and we've never been rebellious. It's basic enough to be used in fiction, too.

Personality wise Shikadai doesn’t remind me of Shikamaru too much ironically since his design is the most copy pasted of all the new gen

Metal however reminds me of Lee in every way besides the nervousness

Boruto is not exactly like naruto, he just looks similar and is a "good guy" kind of guy. He is different enough.

Sarada has many habits that sasuke and sakura have, but she has a unique personality that differs greatly from both of them. She also does not look too similar like some of the other kids, as in, she is completely distinguishable.

Mitsuki is original in all ways.

Inojin looks a lot like ino, but looks original enough. He also does not act like either of his parents too much. He has general similarities with Sais "anything goes" conversation habits, but that is it.

Chocho looks very unique and has an original personality in all ways except her eating habit, and even then, she expresses that very differently from Choji.

Shikadai Looks way too similar to Shikamaru (for gods sake, even the same hairstyle?) and has far too many personality traits with him. He just does not seem quite as lazy, and shows a particular interest in "doing things the right way". He is not an exact copy by any means, but too similar for my taste. It feels too much like Shikamaru exists again as a kid in the new era.

Metal Lee is a Lee clone. period. Only difference is a VERY slight change in appearance, and his overdone and unrealistic hyper-anxiety in front of others that just makes him annoying to me. The less we see of him, the better, unless something changes about him, but i do not think that will happen.

The sand siblings supposedly have kids, but we have not seen enough from them yet to say, though they look original enough.

Bee has a kid (that is his kid right?) and he fights originally, and looks original enough.

Almost forgot about Himawari. she has an original appearance (at least far more so than boruto), and her personality has not been explored a whole lot, but it seems pretty different from her parents.


Honestly, only Shikadai and Metal Lee are clones.

I have no problem with carbon copy character if they side character. If MC, I think is boring. I’m glad the 3 main characters aren't looking totally carbon copy their parents. boruto maybe same with naruto but he has amazing skill, smart, sometimes annoying, a lot complaint, lazy and bit arrogant. Sarada was mix a good habit from her parents side but she has own character. Mitsuki is only one original.
