Elephants are as empathic as us humans. And our reason and logic is based on instincts too (in our subconsciousness of course).

Varying in many places and aspects of society, humans in general are the most self-aware and self-conscious being on Earth. Meaning all other animals do feel emotion like us, but only humans can format logic and reason to filter and discipline ourselves from acting on instinct.
