The anime is pretty good, the series runs long and the anime is pretty much canon. Start with the anime then move to the manga. (Beware Kenichi has the same voice actor as Goku)

The characters are awesome, you got Elder Furinji, Sigfried, all 5 masters, Nijima, Kisaro and in the manga you get the desciples of the shadow fists who are cool like the killer little girl.

OP: I enjoyed the anime good balance of fights and comedy, very nice fight scene animation. The manga has gotten way crazier than the anime left off at and it would be nice to see more of the story animated but it's worth a watch. It was one of the only few DUBs that was actually any good.

Personally i would recommend you to read the manga, i'm on chapter 400 and so far it is very enjoyable, the scans might be a bit unclear till the 90th chapter.

It's alright. I feel like it's run a bit long and gotten a little ridiculous.
Go with the anime definitely. Fight scenes were badass.

That is worse than what you said previously.. If I had went off a summary for any manga that I have read I would have a super short list right now. For instance everyone I know talked about how great Death Note is/was I read a summary and thought it was the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.. But, recently I decided I would read it against my judgment of the synopsis and I am about 70 chapters in and I gotta say it has been pretty awesome so far I wouldn't say best manga ever but it is in my top 10 now..
