Hinata wants to protect Naruto. She wants to prove her self-worth to him, and her clansmen for that matter. and she wants to be with him as a lover. She also wishes to get stronger.

I'm not saying a love story made her pathetic, i'm saying that the love story is the only thing that defines her character. Narutokun! Narutokun! Narutokun! I want to stand by narutokun's side! *Neji just dies* "naruto's hand is so big and manly" It doesnt even looked like she cared much about being passed over as clan head for for her sister as long as her narutokun notices her. Family/Blood > guy that barely notices her.

Even if she is trying to prioritize both Kishi is doing a piss poor job of showing it.

Oh shit, thank you for correcting my mistake. Anyways my counter to what you said is that there are many people who have and still are encouraging Naruto(and picking him up) when he hits rock bottom. So that doesn't make her special in that area.

This is true; however, she is the one constant we've had.



1. During the written exam, Naruto is getting all nervous. Hinata says she doesn't want him to disappear and offers to help him... which resolves Naruto to not cheat and go for the test.

2. Just before facing Neji she tells him about being a proud failure.

3. Post Neji's death. The Connected speech.

We could add Pain's invasion if we consider Naruto hitting rock bottom desperation and her indirectly saving him (whilst ironically trying to save him).



The point is, each of these times have been when Naruto is morally being crushed which only happens a few times in the story...... the only other time I can think of that hits these levels is Jiraiya's death where Shikimaru steps in to help him. That and after failing to save Sasuke when Jiraiya asks him to go and travel with him.

Also, even if this isn't what you personally feel is special or notable to Hinata, regardless, Hinata is still fulfilling this role. Even if she doesn't end up as the only one, one can still surmise that one Hinata's largest (if not largest) role is to be an emotional backbone to push Naruto up when he falls down.


When you ultimately compare her total panel time to how many scenes actually end up with her picking Naruto up... it is rather impressive that they closely number up to each other. Anyhow, if you actually read through that link I posted..... It shows she's far more than one dimensional.
