The databook says that she had a hidden talent that she never showed. Now hear me out, I get that she was shy, but her father despised her because she was weak even though she apparently wasn't. And then, when facing her sister she couldn't best her, so either she was holding back or she wasn't as good as her sister.

Now, she always compares herself to Naruto, but he's never had a Kekkei Genkai, a family, or someone to train him day in and day out in proper ninja arts, and ultimately, she had a hidden potential that he never had. She had a simple job; put her all into everything but she refused to do it. Her refusal to do what she was supposed to do caused her father to hate her and put both her and her sister through extremely rough training. On top of that, Hanabi became heir, a job that wasn't hers to have.

And despite all of the advantages and potential she was aware of, she compares herself to Naruto and relies on him to face the difficulties of her life. She seems quite mental to me, no offense to the fans of her, just an observation.

You just repeat the same things I already disproved. Why?

Her hidden talent was hidden in her ovaries.

No she was just a overly passive individual that put others first before herself

due to Hiashi's strikeness too she eventually lost confidence but Naruto being called a failure and never giving up encouraged her.

She had a reason to love Naruto

Kishimoto:
I think what made me realize it was partly because, if you really look back and think about it, Hinata always supported and acknowledged Naruto, even before Master Iruka. She had the ability to see beyond his reputation and see the true person inside. I think I started realizing that they were meant to be.
Taniguchi: “It’s not that.” (laugh) “I like the fact that at the beginning she was a weakling, but due to Naruto’s influence she steadily became strong.”

Kishimoto: “That’s because Hinata doesn’t stand at the main character’s side like normal heroines*… she’s the type that watches him from the shadows.”

Interviewer: “I thought the heroine was Sakura?”

Kishimoto: “That’s right. But Sakura is addicted to Sasuke.” (laugh) “The reason why Hinata came to like Naruto is clear, but I’ve deliberately avoided writing down the reason why Sakura came to like Sasuke.” (laugh) “That’s because somehow, I had the feeling that it would conversely end up sounding contrived.”

She was weak. It just means she didn't try improving herself until later on after she became a genin.

Kurama.

She had a simple job; put her all into everything but she refused to do it. Her refusal to do what she was supposed to do caused her father to hate her and put both her and her sister through extremely rough training. On top of that, Hanabi became heir, a job that wasn't hers to have.

True, but she started trying harder after becoming a Genin. Kurenai notes this and we see it first hand in her fight with Neji.

And despite all of the advantages and potential she was aware of, she compares herself to Naruto and relies on him to face the difficulties of her life.

Again, she doesn't do that.

Characteristics of Genuinely Low Self Esteem

.Social withdrawal

.Anxiety and emotional turmoil

.Lack of social skills and self confidence. ..

.Less social conformity

.Eating disorders

.Inability to accept compliments

.An Inability to see yourself 'squarely' - to be fair to yourself.

.Accentuating the negative.

What is emotional abuse?

One definition of*emotional abuse*is: "any act including confinement, isolation,*verbalassault, humiliation, intimidation, infantilization, or any other treatment which may diminish the sense of identity, dignity, and self-worth."

Lack of Self-Confidence, those with low self esteem generally become either*overachievers*orunderachievers. Some are angry and are driven to prove their adequacy-often becoming very successful as the result of their low self esteem . Other low self esteem sufferers remain in unsatisfying and or abusive relationships, remain in jobs where the pay is poor and the benefits nonexistent, give up on their dreams, and float through life because they are convinced that trying to change these factors will result in failure, humiliation, or being alone. People who*lack self-confidence*are very needy. These are*self-defeating behaviors*that low self esteem sufferers repeat over and over.

Just a few things that might help you understand lol.

She chose not to fulfill her responsibilities. Personal shortcomings relating to personality are understandable, but letting them overcome your entire life and choosing not to do jack-shit about it and using another person as your emotional inspiration and support rather than relying on oneself is really disgusting.

not relying on herself?

lol what do you think all her single training was for?

what do you think her knowing twin lion fist and 64 palm was for?

she wasn't chasing Naruto but instead was training to overcome her weakness, in the end Hiashi himself also changed and the Hyuga changed

She was chasing Naruto or always kept him in the forefront of any defining internal/external dialogue, Naruto is what motivated her and that's a fact we should agree on.

Hinata vs Hanabi apparently is canon. I've seen a post from the last of Hanabi stating that she bested her sister.

I guess that settles it. Does this make those Hyuga Sister specials canon then?

You're almost as bad as Zack.

OT: There are various factors that could have affected Hinata. For example, even with all that potential, if she didn't have the skill to bring it out, then of course she would fail. Then of course, Hiashi's discouragement could have easily hindered her progress. Discouragement, especially at a young age, keeps many kids from blooming or showing their true talent even if they have said talent.

You say that she "refused to do it" as if she had a choice. She didn't "refuse" to do anything. She failed to do it. There's a difference.

If someone tells a man to lift a 500 pound weight, and the man tries but can't do it, then that man didn't refuse to do anything. He just failed at lifting it.

In the same way, Hinata didn't refuse to do anything. She tried fighting Neji, Hanabi, and her dad, and she lost. It's as simple as that. No she is not mental. Potential means nothing without actual skill and know how.
