Aye? Well, you could say that Kabuto had no use for him or could not get to him coz where he is buried is a sacred area where the Nara clan is only allowed to go but if Kakuzu said that then it might be Kishi's way of telling us he's alive...or not.

What i read about Hidan is that he needs to sacrifce a certain amount of people using that cursed mode he transforms into to keep himself alive for a certain amount of time, so even if his head was lopped off he could still talk but would eventually die...kinda sad
