No, they're not equal. In terms of swordsmanship, yes Mihawk is better but Shanks will destroy Mihawk (with haki).

I think Shanks has the edge, mainly because of his INSANE haki. The guy damaged a boat by standing on it, he wasn't even using his full power! In terms of swordsmanship it is probably Hawkeye>Shanks though.

As for now i will say they are at par......because its said that heir battles have never been settled!!!!
However shanks is a swordsman and yet mihawk is the no. 1! swordsman...this either means shanks doesnt want to challenge mihawk n beat hm or he simply cant bcoz hawky is stronger!!!!!!!!!
we also need to remember that as warlord.....mihawk does as he wants....even the government doesnt tell him shiit
however.....shanks went toe to toe with WB while mihawk tested his strongest slash ( which i believe isunderated) and
jozu stopped it...so that says asomething strengthwise

Lol, no he isn't. Although at that stage where your at, since we havn't seen much of Shanks you would believe his "top dog". But really his on par with Shanks. Not stronger. Not weaker.

So, shanks is really strong. And maybe they were talking of a battle of stone, paper, scissors with both hand.. And shanks didnt have one hand to play it...

Mihawk hasn't even tested clashing with Whitebeard, how can you be so sure he would do worse than Shanks? Not that even if he did it says anything about Shanks vs Mihawk, it's a totally different matchup.
Shanks might be stronger, but clearly in their duels they were equal and that was before Shanks lost his arm.
I have a hard time believing Shanks fought Mihawk with just a one hander. That would make him better wouldn't it?
Two-hander vs two-hander would be a fair fight. I can see Shanks was able to keep up with Mihawk because of being stronger/having better haki, so what would he do now that he has a two-hander handicap?
Fight the world's strongest swordsman with a one-hander? Anyways if Shanks was in fact able to duel Mihawk with one hand Mihawk would not deserve his title. Well, maybe he was just using that dagger
