It's up to you to decide if it's bad or good. There are mixed opinions about this topic.

If they are able to do it with no dangerous side effects then I am all in for it.

Genetic Engineering has untapped potential--if you wish to research or go into a career that uses GE, then good luck! This is a frontier that promises great results once you understand the mechanisms of CRISPR and the like.

That's a very bad question- from it I get the hint that you're looking for a right answer. A question of this nature has no right answer; it's open to interpretation. Anyway, as a believer of God, I believe that genetically modifying people to give desired traits to the child is very shallow and incorrect.

Tbh, I don't care. As long as it's not me or someone I know.
We can't care about everything.

That lack of compassion for other people can cause many problems. If everyone shared that belief there wouldn't be laws.

This is one area of genetic engineering while there are many, many other avenues you can take. There are soo many things you can accomplish with CRISPR but it's like.... I can't explain what it is because I don't think anyone here has taken 300-level Biology courses or Genetics yet.

You take this thing from the DNA of Animal A, put it into Animal B, amplify it via Taq Polymerization, and you have DNA that contains genes for resistance! There is now methylation in sigma factors which prevent other bacteria or viruses from penetrating the cell surface.

And that's just one of the several avenues GE can go. It's amazing and there needs to be more researchers learning it.

The idea of having a system implemented within the world which gives people the option to have designer babies makes me sick, perhaps even more so than I'm letting on. Im I'll elaborate later when I'm not busy

You seem clueless to me, OP.

It can be good or bad. It can help us overcome things like disease and sickness if we master it. We can also use it to make the perfect children or cross species (which is bad). I believe after all the medical achievements we have it will be used for shallow purposes like making oneself perfect in terms of looks and physical abilities or the best children. Everyone will be more competitive and shallow.

Genetic engineering can have many different uses, good or bad.

If we can place strict rules on them so that it would only be used for things like medical purposes then it would be fine in my opinion, however, I doubt humans are that responsible.

I think it's useful in cases where people come out mental or physically disabled. Implanting the chromosome or whatever they need could be beneficial. Plus the more breakthroughs the better because we all have more options.

My issue comes if it's used to create a new race of superhumans.

Genetic modification is going to be a step in the right direction. Eugenics all the way! (No, I wasn't kidding. I actually do think we should legalize and promote the genetic modification of humans for the bettering of the human race.)
