Well I have come with the same theory but only a bit different I think that gamamaru is indeed the so6ps brother and that he possesses the byakugan cause when you look at his eyes, you can't see that pattern that is shared among the frogs(it could be of old age or not) and I also think he adopted that name because he has lived in the myokubo mountain for a long time.And also I think that he was the first human to become a frog hence the statues that were created after him.
