Is family disposable?

What I mean what I say that is, you know people say you must stick with your family no matter what, and family comes before friends, but do you believe this to be true? tbh, I see my family as nothing more than friends I was given at birth. My sisters to me are my roommates and my mother is like the nosy landlord. But do you ever think that you would not talk to them or forget about them if you had to? Or do you feel as if you owe your family something?

Honestly, family doesn't come before friends. I see my friends as part of my family. I wouldn't put my family before my friends or my friends before my family. They're all family.

But family is definately not disposable.

Friends will end up coming and going, they will backstab and double cross you. Perhaps some of them may not even have been your real friends all along.

Your family will always be there, they will always have your back and they will always love you.

Now I know that this statement is not always true, there are abusive parents in this world, and there are parents who just don't care, but if you're talking about the same thing I am then my above statement should be true.

Family is nothing more but a group of people you are attachted to because you have developed a certain amount of codependence towards them, people do love really they just like what someone can or have dont for them. Sad truth
The reason most stick together is because there is a certain level of responsibility, a blood binding oath of some sort. And most need someone to pass their legacy and things on to.

I'd die for my friends and family. To me, family is more or less important. Some friends will be there for you like family though. To me, If you dont have family, you're limited to a set number of social skills. Friends can leave, and its likely they will. Family, if they are good, usually dont leave you. They keep you safe and would do almost anything for you. Just the way I see it and how life ha treated me so far.

No, family is a central point of your life or at least it should be. They take it upon themselves to care for you as you get older and become more dependent, w/o it you don't even exist in the first place nor will you survive. Another thing is that they give us lessons that guide us throughout our entire life which are known as values and we bring them everywhere we go. Lastly, in periods of hard times family are the only ones you can count on to be there for you. It would be ungrateful to abandon them no matter what the reason.

In special cases such as abuse and sexual harassment then yes it's acceptable to get out.

Well to me that's false , I don't have a good relationship with my parents .

I have amazing friends & my Best friends parents who look out for me as well & treat me like one of their own , I feel better around them than when i do with my own .

so yeah they are disposable , except my Brother & sister.

When I was younger I didn't understand the importance of family. It wasn't until I got older and see most of my friends come/go that family will always be there for you through Thick and thin.

Everything depends on the bonds you have with the family/friends.

But, when you are in the life and death situation I don't think that you would think too much who is more important. The choice would be simple: to save yourself or the person with whom you have a bond. And that would be also a test, a certain type of test which would demonstrate to you who comes the first: you/your family/your friends.

While I'm not on the best terms with my family (even though I live in their house for free and eat their food), I would never consider them disposable. I may not like them at times, but I'll always love them.
