Apparently many crazy conspiracy theorists here on NB believe that the U.S. government is the ultimate threat to humanity and is responsible for Small Pox, AIDS, Ebola, The Black Death, The Holocaust, The World Wars, and every other bad thing that has ever happened since the Big Bang happened.

The United States along with other countries use their power for the wrong ideals when they could focus on things that could give us a much brighter future. Humans are greedy and power hungry, which is why many of the things the U.S. does is focused towards those two things.

I agree with this guy. What's worse than coming up with conspiracy theories is believing everything you see on television *cough* most of you *cough*.

Definition of conspiracy: a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful.

To say conspiracies don't exist is idiotic.

I think the realized subconsciously it is easier to blame the Government than to admit they have been idiots for last few generations. USA isnt the angel but it sure was and still is better than most countries out there ..... But sadly it the First World Problems rather than the real problem which will eventually cause its downfall ..... Then again, such is the cycle of history ... Rome must burn for others to rise.

These people have also replaced God with the government in terms of how they look at life.

They believe that the "government has a plan" - even if they can't tell you what it is.

It is a belief in the idea that -something- or -someone- has positive control over what is going on - that 'everything is according to plan.'

They generally overlook the fact that bad things have always happened in the world - long before there were governments with the power to operate massive clandestine projects like The Manhattan Project. And they generally overlook the fact that even in some of the best orchestrated clandestine projects - intelligence leaks occur, particularly in times of national division and controversy.

The reason the Manhattan Project wasn't blown wide open was because people genuinely believed they needed to do their part for Uncle Sam. This whole country went to war with Germany and Japan. From the kids at school who ran recycling drives to the women who went to work building our warfighting equipment.

Had there been a more politically divided nation with less certainty we were doing what should be done - then the people hired to oversee the uranium enrichment would have sung like canaries.

That doesn't mean the government doesn't try these types of things, anymore - and it also doesn't mean that the government's actions are perfect.

But to believe every bad thing that happens is somehow a government plot is to essentially have replaced God with the Government.

It's obvious though. Clearly the United States, formed in the late 18th Century, was souly and chiefly responsible for all of those you listed.

I mean who else would have unleashed the Black Death on 15th century Europe or the 6th Century Byzantine empire.
