I think it might be, especially if they're doing Old Man Logan for Wolverine 3. Agree?
If Deadpool is successful(which it more than likely will be), then it could pave the way. I think an R-rated Marvel set of films is needed, especially when you have people that put down Marvel for being less dark than the DCCU. I'd love an R-rated Wolverine film.
Daredevil was TV-MA, an R-rated version, especially with Punisher, would be pretty good. I see Daredevil being R-rated due to violence, Wolverine R-rated due to violence and a few F-words.I really hope it does well. Imagine an R Rated film that deals with Phoenix or Wolverine? Marvel/Disney might do Daredevil or the Defenders as R Rated. Or Moon Knight!
The Punisher was the first Marvel R rated film that I can recall it was an amazing movie too, about the movies being R rated doesn't matter as long as it attains a certain level of seriousness and darkness towards whatever conflict is being faced. A perfect Marvel movie that executed this in my opinion was Guardians of The Galaxy.
Sometimes R-ratings are needed to stay true to what people love about the characters. I started reading Old Man Logan. The fourth page features Logan's class explicitly piercing through bloody abdomens and feet and ears being sliced off later on in that fight.

I actually misread the title lol, the OP was talking about Xmen titles. not really looking forward to the Deadpool movie considering I never really liked Deadpool as a character but I will watch it because he is interesting. I hope it contains honorable mentions and Easter eggs.
