During his fight against Boruto, Shikadai said he had at least 12 countermeasures in place if Boruto had used the Rasengan.
That was from the novel written by the same guy who co-wrote the movie. Boruto was getting his ass kicked by Shikadai no matter what. This gen doesn't have a Neji, so Shikadai seems likely to fill that role more than being a loser like his father was in the beginning. He was the only one of his teammates to win their match and he easily beat Yodo who is supposedly even stronger than Shinki. He is someone Boruto will eventually have to overcome and beat. Shikadai is suppose to be the next Kazekage so Boruto should be behind him. Otherwise the Boruto manga would be pretty boring if Boruto didn't have rivals to chase.
Why do you keep throwing irrelevant nonsense in to the equation?
> I'm arguing Canon
> Novel wise, Shikidai only setup counters for the Rasengan. He had no idea about the Vanishing Rasengan, no one did but Sasuke. Not even Boruto himself because he left before he saw its special ability.

> You call Shikidai needing two techniques to stop Boruto when he fought him with one a 'ass kicking'. Alright then, rofl.
> Shikidai is the Neji of the generation? Do you even know who Neji was? Their personalities are exact opposites, Shikidai is literally a carbon copy of Shikamaru. Just this time he's being labled as Prodigy, unlike his father who was a Genius via IQ/intelligence.
> Shikidai is the next Kzekage? What the **** :lol
> To talk about the rest of your post, you have to understand that Shikamaru's kids will probably never amount to the same level as Boruto and Sarada.
The strongest characters usually have the strongest children of the generation, Boruto and Sarada will probably be equal like Naruto and Sasuke. Shikidai will definitely be powerful, but compared to those two? Doubt it. Like saying Shikamaru could combat Hebi Sasuke or Sage Mode Naruto.
Think about that.
