Because it's a continuation of the original story. :|In the Last he specifically said that was chapter 699.5, and that's what it took to make it canon. Now, we are assuming Boruto is canon? Why exactly? Why shouldn't we consider anime filler or the novels as canon with that logic?
Because it's a continuation of the original story. :|
Filler is made by SP and the novels weren't written by kishi. Kishi made the characters and the story in bolt movie. Why the hell would the author make something that isn't canon? So is filler, so are the novels.

illustrated =/= writing it and fillers are separate stories that don't move the plot forward, Canon material does. Once again RTN didn't continue the story. The setting was after the pain invasion but before the war arc. The last on the other hand continued the story since its set two years after the war arc. Bolt movie continues the damn story with the new team 7 taking the chunin exams which was mentioned to happen in chapter 1 of naruto gaiden. do you get it now?The novels were illustrated by Kishi, and SP sure have the legal permissions to make original stories.
The Last story wasn't fully written by Kishi, and Road to Ninja falls in the same category, the thing is Kishi never said RTN was an episode made in a movie.

Just so I understand correctly, you think The Last is canon and Gaiden is not?
Denial game is too strong. :lolSo "moving the story forward", which we still don't know if it does, plus being partially written by Kishi automatically makes a movie, novel and any kind of material canon.
Great explanation, for a minute I thought you were selectively choosing what is canon and what is not.
If this doesn't convince you then stay in denial. As 707 is coming extremely close, the first cover page of it revealed the villain for the upcoming Boruto: Naruto the Movie.

It seems to be an individual from the Otsutsuki Clan, etched with Rinnegan across his body and the palm of his hands.
I will continue to report on this as we go on.
Update: He is connected to Kaguya Otsutsuki and is the confirmed threat that Sasuke predicted during the course of Naruto Gaiden.
