In the entire manga, no other summon has received as much hype a this thing has, excluding edo tensei of course. Based on what we know from Jiraiya the thing must be truly massive, because every single time he describes it, he refers to how tiny any enemy he's facing is in comparison to it, including pain's dogs, who towered over the trees of a forest and were comparable in size to Gamaken who is slightly larger than Gamabunta based on the size comparison between the two when they were shown side by side at the shinra tensei crater. Of course we also know the thing is infamous for breathing fire. Honestly, let's face it, considering the thing is from the same region that something as huge and formidable as Gamabunta is from, and yet it's the one being hyped up and called great, can only mean that it's just that much more jawdropping.

I was certain when it was first referenced that eventually we'd see Jiraiya summon it in full later on, but that never happened. Then I was certain Naruto would summon it, but that never happened. Then as a last hope I thought maybe it would get a cameo when Naruto was doing his sage training, but still nothing. Now that the series is coming to an end, I sadly feel that it will never get revealed, unless the anime team surprises us with a filler arc or it makes an appearance in a video game, both of which I really doubt.

Honestly though, I can't be the only one that's been waiting to see it get revealed.

In part 1, a little. That was almost 10 years ago, no one remembers it now.

It did get referenced in part 2, during the pain fight, and possibly one other occasion, I can't recall exactly now. Still, I always thought for sure it would get whipped out during a boss fight as a trump card.

I doubt the fire-breathing Toad is much of a warrior like the other toads. And since Gamabunta is the leader of the clan, he must be the strongest still.

Anyone cares to show a scan of a character referring to that toad? I can't recall it no matter what...

The fire-breathing toad is dangerous enough that Jiraiya was willing to take down foes just using its innards as a weapon, so I think that at least gives some credence to it being pretty formidable in full form. I don't think it would've been a warrior like the others though, more like an artillery piece, like kyuubi.

It died after Jiraiya tore it's throat out to trap Itachi and Kisame.

Oh that toad that Jiraiya used to trap enemies? It couldn't be less relevant at this point...

I said in the OP that it's to late at this point for it to make an appearance. That doesn't change the fact that it was hyped up and never shown.

That scene was anime only, but yes, that was when Jiraiya used Crushing Toad Stomach to reverse summon himself and the dog summons into its stomach.

That was just a toad stomach or toad mouth trap. As we saw Jiraiya coming out of a small toad when he infiltrated the hidden rain, that toad could be a small toad for all we know.

That could potentially be the case if Jiraiya hadn't specifically referred to it as being giant.

Scan for the person who requested it.

This actually reminds me of something. Wouldn't SM Naruto be able to use this technique then (summon the stomach)? He's affiliated with the inhabitants of Mount Myoboku and if you can summon one toad you can summon all.
