or Minato teleporting out of the battlefield altogether.

Even Kaguya would get smacked quite a few times even if Gai can't ever finish her.

8 gates gai solos anyone in NV except madara and kaguya. I'm not adding hagoromo because we haven't actually seen him fight and madara and cagey still get smacked around a bit and only survive because they are immortal

Yup. He's below EMS Madara, Tobirama, and Hashirama. Let me put it this way, he had to go 5th and 6th gate to beat a clone of Kisame who started off with only 30% his chakra which was lowered to 7.5% after clone Kisame made 3 clones to stop Neji/Tenten/Lee from joining in. Gai's base is Jounin, Kisame's is Kage yet he needed to go 6th gate to fight a weak clone? He went 7th gate to fight a weakened Kisame who didn't have Samehada; he has never beaten a fresh Kisame and still had to go to high gates to fight Kisame.

They said that opening all 8 gates gives you power over the 5 Kages but Edo Madara easily beat the 5 Kages and called it child's play. Edo Madara was not one bit serious and Oonoki who fought EMS Madara even asked why he never fought him at full power so Gai at 8th gate is below EMS Madara. Sasuke, who was new to EMS, was starting to read JJ Obito's speed, Madara who had EMS longer and mastered it will have no problem especially since Gai isn't faster than KM Naruto who speed is compared to FTG.
