Iruka should have been killed by Mizuki in Chapter 1

It's better than pretending he doesn't exist anymore, which is what Kishi's done with him. Iruka used to be one of the main characters, and now he just gets briefly mentioned here and there. If he had died, Naruto would have made it his goal to live up to Iruka's hopes and dreams, and Iruka would have been a sort of martyr character like Rin.

Side note: what is Mizuki up to now? Is he still in jail? He should have been Karin's cellmate when she was being held prisoner XD

if iruka died the nine tails woud have gone on rampage and no one could have stopped it and the village would have been destroyed in seconds because naruto loved iruka and he was the first and most important person in his life than anyone else cause he was the first peson who accepted naruto when compared to others in village and his word filled the hole in his heart and he is the reason for naruto to become strong.....

OT: There was no need to kill him. Saving him rather than avenging him in the first chapter seems like a better motivator for naruto. Plus, now we have Jiraiya as the martyr.

I don't like Iruka, not because he's a fodder, but because there are better father figures and sensei figures to Naruto, like Kakashi, Hiruzen, Jiraiya, Bee, and now Minato as an Edo.

Iruka is more of a brother to Naruto, same goes for Bee. Jiraiya was the only one to act as a father figure. When Naruto was rejected by 99% of Konoha, Hiruzen did nothing. Kakashi was a bad teacher (don't get me wrong, I like the character but he failed his three students) and Minato won't have a lot of time to act as a father.

Seriously, his durability is off the charts. He took a giant shuriken straight to his backbone, which should have paralyzed him for the rest of his life.
