At least 79 people have been killed and 131 injured in an explosion claimed by the Islamic State group in Baghdad, Iraqi police say.
A car bomb exploded near a restaurant and shopping area in the central district of Karrada late on Saturday.
The street was busy with shoppers after sundown in the holy month of Ramadan, which ends this week.
Iraq's Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi was met by angry crowds while visiting the scene of the blast on Sunday.
A second bomb also exploded at about midnight in a predominantly Shia area north of the capital, killing another five people.

Attacks in populated places on purpose. Iraqi people are dealing with this more than a decade from various forces with nearly same roots.

Sad news.

The media always depict all muslims as terrorists when those mostly affected by terrorist actions are muslims! Thats a true fact! Alot more muslims are killed compared to white people.

The attackers target Shia Muslims and/or secular Muslims, is you look at the areas these terrorists the pattern follows that.

There are Sunni Muslims who are victims of Isis, but not because they are Sunni; mostly because they are secular, have different political views, more modern etc.

That's why there is something off with "ISIS targets Muslims most!" when they target people for not being Muslims or Muslim enough. Also, they are much closer to hemisphere of ISIS due to where they live.

Also Muslim is for defining religion not a race. It is very racialized as brown/Arab/middle eastern but it is not a race.

And 20 people got tortured before their throat slit in Dhaka just yesterday...

Twenty civilians, six gunmen, and two police officers were confirmed killed, while 50 others, mostly police personnel, were injured.[18][3] The two dead police officers included an Assistant Commissioner of Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, and the officer-in-charge of the nearby Banani police station.[19][20] Japanese and Italian citizens were among the victims.[5] The Bangladesh Army initially announced that all 20 hostages killed in the attack were foreigners, and that they were "killed brutally with sharp weapons" by the perpetrators.[18] Those who could recite a verse from the Quran from memory were spared in an effort to only kill non-Muslims.[21][22][23]

Among the victims were seven Japanese citizens – five men and two women – who were associated with the Japan International Cooperation Agency.[24] A 19-year-old female of Indian nationality was also killed

An initial report from Amaq News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), said the group claimed it had killed 24 people and wounded 40 others.[27] A second report, issued directly by ISIS a few hours later, said the group had killed "22 crusaders" and was accompanied by photos of the attackers, standing in front of ISIS banners.
[28][29]

However, the home minister of Bangladesh, Asaduzzaman Khan has stated that the perpetrators belonged to Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen and were not affiliated with ISIS. They were well-educated and mostly from rich families.[

The injuries on the body of 19 year old Tarishi Jain shows the signs to confirm the reports of victims being tortured before getting their throats slit.

If you see the snapshot of the involved terrorists taken before they went to slit throats you would think they are cos-playing.

Frankly terrorists are just glorified criminals.

Thank you, people irritate when they treat Muslims as a race, though sometimes I fall in the habit it's still nice to see someone else recognize this slight ignorance of our western society.

What pisses me off is that they didn't get tortured and have their throats slit. And how much attention they are getting from this. I'm curious as to what exactly could be enough to make so many people feel that this level of brutality is justified. A few constructed doctrines, from a contradictory book just doesn't seem that convincing but apparently it is.

Only they would know what they thought they were doing- what caught my eye was the fact that whether they had actual direct link with ISIS or not- they supported it and ISIS quickly claimed the killing as it's own achievement and called these poor victims who were present their just by chance as "crusaders"...

I am worried about similar threats in my own country- People like that Biswas guy who was handling twitter account for ISIS. People with no real personal aim trying to feel they are part of something big but actually just turning in to tools for some power hungry forces in another country whom they don't even know.

Edit:
..Through spectacular actions directed at Bangladesh’s aid-dependent economy; through actions that play on the country’s religious and sectarian faultlines; through carefully targeted assassinations: the group seeks to provoke the state into reprisals that will fuel backlash, and in turn generate entropy.

Put simply, the strategy is chaos.

ISIS is spread around all over the World. They got damn bases and sources everywhere, they can go anywhere.

Yesterday they caught some men distributing brochures with religious writings and links directing to pro-ISIS sites. And they get arrasted thanks to efforts of a politician of main opposition party. I saw a similar man few days ago distributing same brochures near but stop close to my workplace; like the man showed me the paper, i looked like 5 minutes and stormed off. I did not say a thing because i thought i may be wrong, but i was right. I was centimeters away from a member of World's most terrified terror organization and had a non-verbal communication.

The terror might be that close to us, those unfortunate people in Dhaka maybe did not think it can be that close to them. Their last moments were being forced to recite from a language they did not know. Monsters are everywhere now.
how can that be? It was mission accomplished ten years ago

Bombings in Iraq are common since Iraq-Iran War. Iraq has always been a divided nation, both religiously and ethnically. The north are mostly ethnically Kurdish and religiously Yazidis; the east are Shiites; the west are Sunnis. Any bombing in Iraq appearing on the news shouldn't be a surprise if you read their history.

The ironic thing is they see 'modern Muslims' as kafir, when that in itself is a major sin.

Crazy part is this bombing doesn't get as much coverage. Probably because Iraq is already war-torn.

Condolences to them.
