Ok i make this thread cuz i've notice that people think in NB that if you don't have overpowered jutsu, you're weak. That's why i think skillfull ninjas like Shikamaru, Minato, Itachi, or Kakashi are sometimes underrated(even if i agree that they are also sometimes overrated). Even if they don't have overpowered jutsus, their smartness, skillfullness when they fight help them to overcome a problem which seems impossible at the start.
To take an example, i will talk about Minato. He is a normal ninja which greatest jutsu besides shiki fujin, so far we know is rasengan(which is far from the power level of a TBB for example), but cuz he is skillfull, this jutsu you think is nothing could become the fear of all the opponents he meet.
Talking about TBB, if we see someone like Minato, you could ask you, "how could he counter this, he has no jutsu?". But Minato is the type of ninja who uses basic things to do great things. That's how he managed to put a seal infront of him in order to teleport a TBB elsewhere. Does he has a jutsu comparable to TBB? Obviously, no. But like i've said, he used basic things(seals) to do great things(teleport one of the most powerful jutsus in the manga).
Another example is against Tobi. When you fight Tobi, wheter your jutsu is the strongest of all time or not, it's useless if you don't find a good timing to hurt him. That's why, TBB, Susanoo, rasenshuriken, Amaterasu, Shinra tensei, etc..(all these jutsus who are normally stronger than rasengan) is useless. Rasengan itself also is useless. But again cuz Minato is fast, smart enough and skillfull, he found Tobi's weakness in an instant and crushed him with a rasengan thanks to a perfect timing.
Another example is Shikamaru vs Hidan. Hidan had much more power than Shikamaru, but Shikamaru managed to outsmart him thanks to a trap he used earlier before the fight. That's where a skillfull ninja could even beat a much more powerful ninja on the paper. That's where i think intelligence has a great place in NU, but many people forget that.
I only make this thread to help other to notice that if you have enough power you can surely beat a lot of people, but a smart guy could still beat a much more powerful one just by using his head. Obviously head alone won't help in the process. You must also have power with it. That's why i don't say a guy like Shikamaru could beat everybody, no. I don't even think he can beat Akamen alone without preparations or without help, but he is not to underestimate. I know it's pretty difficult to admit that someone is stronger than the other cuz he is more intelligent. That's why smart people are really difficult to discuss about in versus thread, but i believe intelligence has a great place in this manga.
