No matter where I end up reading, this always pops up in debates and such.
"His insecurity is leaking." "Your insecurity is leaking." And more. I'm really not grasping what people mean by that. Is there any actual reasoning or is it just some dumb saying like rustled?

When someone is insecure they tend to lash out on someone or a group of people in particular with no real reason. This is so they can feel better about themselves.

An example is when someone keeps lashing out on basketballers for no objective reason, an explanation for this could be that the person is insecure due to not being as famous, rich, talented or all of the above in their personal life.

Or maybe they just think basketball is trash because either they don't like the sport or they think they get rich for playing with a ball while many other talented people and artists strive to make a penny, and they don't care much for helping their own communities etc.

Opinions, everyone has them.

It's better not to assume things. But i'm guilty of that all the time so who am to say.

I did say without a real reason did I not?

If they have a legitimate reason then they can't be considered insecure. It was just an example.

I agree though, these are opinions. It is difficult to find a right answer if there is one.

By the way nice sig, Nanashi from shin megami tensei 4: apocalypse right?

Definition of insecure
1 : not confident or sure : uncertain

feeling somewhat insecure of his reception

2 : not adequately guarded or sustained : unsafe

an insecure investment

3 : not firmly fastened or fixed : shaky

the hinge is loose and insecure

4 a : not highly stable or well-adjusted

an insecure marriage

b : deficient in assurance : beset by fear and anxiety

always felt insecure in a group of strangers

the state of being open to danger or threat; lack of protection.
"growing job insecurity"
synonyms: unstable, rickety, rocky, wobbly, shaky, unsteady, precarious;

subject to fears, doubts, etc.; not self-confident or assured:
an insecure person.

not firmly or reliably placed or fastened:
an insecure ladder.

when someone calls you insecure, its mainly you exhibit a habit of projecting onto others your insecurity.
an example of that is this:

"No matter where I end up reading, this always pops up in debates and such.
"His insecurity is leaking." "Your insecurity is leaking." And more. I'm really not grasping what people mean by that. Is there any actual reasoning or is it just some dumb saying like rustled? "

and

"I mean the rebuttal that someone is "insecure" when they continue pushing with their arguments. I literally cannot grasp the meaning. It's like an empty word, but, at the same, it'd be the only content of an entire post."

You exhibit insecurity when you posted that question. This post gives out an essence which the poster is seeking approval of others from a prior argument in which the poster was called "insecure"

^ reading this, take the time to reflect before replying. I wish to know how you felt and what you wanted to write back to me. Did you wish to reply while you are influenced by some emotions? If so, then you are exhibiting insecurity. If you were indifferent however, you are not.

It might simply be that you really do not know what insecurity means and are curious in what context people mean when they say such saying as that.

I do apologize for being direct and using your post as an example. It required no imagining of a scenario and you would be able to relate to it quicker.

It was due to you saying "I literally cannot grasp the meaning." That was questionable as in you are just unable to grasp the context of which it was said or that you are deflecting the context to which it was said and deemed it nonsensical.

like "you're insecure" "uhh that doesn't even make sense"

You did not give much detail in which the person had arrived to the "conclusion" to call you insecure so I cannot answer that properly so I am just presenting you with two answers that best fit your ambiguous post.

[Sub]I suspect you are baiting Dreckerplayer.[/Sub]
Dreckerplayer is the most secure member within the base. I was going to make it a point that people say he's insecure, but it's obviously bollocks! no sarcasm.

So it's pretty much akin to "rustled" in use. It's clear someone can jump to the conclusion that I was personally called insecure, then made this thread to invalidate the word. But that would be an error itself. There's really no way to know if someone's just vulgar or actually bothered and the same is true to intent. But, yeah, you gave an answer I was looking for. @Bold, that's right.
