In an alternate reality, the Joker destroys Metropolis with a nuclear weapon, killing millions of people, after tricking Superman into killing Lois Lane and their unborn daughter. Superman snaps and brutally murders the Joker during Batman's interrogation. He establishes a new world order as the High Councillor. A war ensues between the forces of Superman's regime and those allied with Batman's insurgency.
If any of you played the game, the comics are set 5 years before the start of the game. The comics have a far more interesting storyline.

Its a great series that you can pick up even if you arent following the current comics as it only follows one story and its set in a completely different universe so it wont be confusing.
