Did the IT not effect the Edo Kage because they were edos or because they were already Zetsus? Let's say IT was casted when all the edo zombies not made from WZ were around, would they have been put in the genjutsu or not?

That "/thread" crap is annoying and unnecessary. Anyways, I was under the impression that genjutsu affected anything with a chakra flow, and edos still have chakra.

Because they are dead or lifeless peoples, Shinju just absorbing still living chakra peoples and also blood (if according to the latest databook translation) for nourishment.

The manga show the 'edo' Hokages were still around, when Naruto team return from other dimension.
Orochimaru was somewhat immortal, and did not use white zetsu.
As Sasuke retrieved him from the curse mark, directly. He is inside IT.
