No. It's not like Indra will possess the strongest. It seems like Indra's is allowed to possess a chosen body. And in the current generation, Sasuke is the chosen body. And I guess that's why Sasuke didn't die after a fatal injury. For Sasuke after achieving the final awakening, Madara would be commoner with only power but no brains. Madara has the quantity now but not the quality. Sasuke has the quality.

Obito is a lolicon and a puppet. At this point, he doesn't have the same relevance anymore. Madaras goal isn't the same as Indras. Indra wanted to maintain peace with his own power. Madara on the other hand wishes to recreate the former circumstances by entrusting everything to the holy tree.
Madara detests the precept of Ninjutsu and chakra like Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki. That's the main difference between Indra and Madara.

I didn't mean the strongest . Madara and Indra both walked alone . IMO , Sasuke is the reincarantion of Hagoromo's brother , who is trying to brainwash/control Sasuke once again . Also , the PS of both Indra and Madara are similiar . Sasuke didn't die because he has Senju DNA now .

Madara because of their similar designs and because there are theorys that the Sage's brother had the staff of war and invented Ninjtsu, so he would like to fight just like Madara

Actually Sasuke was stated to be a prodiogy since child hood . Madara was weak against hishirama in the begining , He Willing Admitted this to , Izuna .
However , In the beginning sasuke was was stronger than naruto . ( Just Like The Older & Younger Brothers ) But Later Through Bonds Naruto Became Equal , If Not slighty stroger than sasuke ( Again Reference To The Brothers ) .
Sasuke & Naruto Have Had Several battles . ( the brother had wars ) & Unlike sasuke , This is madara's FIRST Battle with naruto

Yeah Sasuke didn't die because of Senju DNA but before Kabuto's arrival he was lying there for a long time after being impaled. That time, it can be said that Indra's chakra was holding him from dying.
It should be clear that Sasuke is possessed by Indra since Naruto is possessed by Ashura. Madara is just a side character between the battle of the Brothers now.
But Spirits only can *talk* , like Hagoromo said to Naruto . If Indra is possesing Sasuke , then how in the world is Indra able to help Sasuke if he's a spirit ?
It goes like this .
Ashura > Hashirama > Naruto .
Indra > Madara > Obito .
You say Sasuke , but if Indra is possesing Sasuke , then why would Indra go against his last reincarnation which is Madara ?

Indra's spirit isn't reincarnated. His chakra is reincarnated.
After madara's actual death, Indra left his body and possessed Sasuke's body after a generation gap.
And the chakra won't go back to the previous one. He's still in Sasuke's body. Madara planned his revival but that's already against the rule of nature whereas the transmigration of chakra is natural.

Orochimaru , a child prodigy, a genius among geniuses, who got praised by almost everyone and he also had solution for pretty much everything(he even cancelled RDS) hypes , Sasuke as a genius who makes himself pitiful if compared to him.
This is the hype of highest rank(in terms of intelligence) given to anyone in the manga. (because a extremely genius ninja admits that a ninja is leagues above him in terms of intelligence)

Indra and ashura were rivals.
IF ashura was possessed by naruto, someone of the same generation must be possessed by indra.
If we talk about rivals of naruto, the first guy comes that comes to mind is Sasuke.
And this time naruto is the one who will lose against sasuke.
Naruto thinks ninja must endure, so he must lose and he must endure it and admit inferiority to sasuke.
